Audacity of the Gospel.

Is anywhere off limits to the Gospel, this freedom giving good news?
What about your office or your form room in college? Or your family home?

Check this out!

“Greet all the saints in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me send greetings. All the saints send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar's household. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.” Phil 4:21-23

Did you get that?!
Paul must have been laughing as he dictated this final greeting.
While a prisoner in Rome Paul had the audacity of the Gospel to share its good news in the very house of his captor! Salvation had taken hold and this cheeky greeting from Paul to the Philippian church was an ‘in your face’ to the enemy!

Our Gospel is not something polite or patient.
It demands attention more than a screaming baby. It does not bow to the pressures of political correctness or have any social graces. It says, ‘you are in trouble, take my hand NOW!’

You know the sort of thing. It’s like those cliff hanging moments in an action film. Someone’s hanging precariously over a precipice, they can barely hold on, their grip is slipping. The hero reaches out. “Take my hand!” He shouts out.
They try to loosen their grip to take his hand but fear causes them to hold all the tighter. “I can’t.”
Suddenly they slip. It’s worse than ever now.
“Just reach out. You can do it.”
Now hysterical with fear, “I can’t.”
“You must! Give – me – your - hand!”

Slowly their fingers loosen. They are shaking but tentatively they reach out . Then everything gives way and they fall. But not far, the hero has them!

All the time you have been on the edge of your seat shouting at the screen hoping that they will somehow hear you. It’s infuriating!

“I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.” Rom 1:16
We have in our hands, in our lives, the power of freedom.
Where will you spend your day today? In a classroom? Behind a desk? In a queue at the Jobcentre? You are here. We are here because we have the message of rescue.
Someone can be saved today because of you!
